The Government of Ghana has repatriated 228 Ghanaians affected by an ongoing demolition exercise in the Port Bouët Municipality of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
The returnees, who arrived on June 11, form part of 327 Ghanaians who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the demolitions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says arrangements have been made for the remaining 99 affected nationals to return home with transport support provided.
Ivorian authorities have also indicated plans to compensate victims, while Ghana's diplomatic mission in Abidjan continues engagement on the issue. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, received the returnees upon arrival in Ghana.
