Rising labour agitations and workplace instability could negatively affect Ghana's attractiveness to investors, according to the National Labour Commission (NLC).
Speaking at the 2026 Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management Ghana Conference in Accra, the Deputy Chairperson of the NLC, Rose Karikari Anang, warned that investor confidence is increasingly influenced by the level of industrial harmony in a country.
She noted that frequent strikes and labour disputes across key sectors send negative signals to the global investment community, stressing the need for stronger dialogue and more stable labour relations.
According to her, investors are closely watching how countries manage workplace disputes, making industrial peace a critical factor in economic competitiveness.
Madam Anang urged stakeholders to adopt practical approaches to labour relations that prioritize stability, productivity, and long-term national interest.
The conference, themed “Advancing Human Resource Excellence in Ghana: Leadership, Technology and Governance,” brought together HR professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the future of work.
