Growing number of Americans consider moving abroad

For decades, the U.S. was seen as a place to pursue a better life and often referred to as 'The American Dream.'

But for many Americans, the new dream is life in another country.

A Gallup poll released last year found that about 20% of Americans said they would like to move abroad.

The nonprofit Association of American Residents Overseas estimates that about 5.5 million Americans lived in another country in 2024, and that number has almost certainly gone up.
