GOP senators sound off after Trump says ‘I love the inflation’

President Donald Trump brushed off a spike in inflation driven by his war in Iran, insisting on Wednesday that “the numbers were great.”

“I love it,” he said of new data that showed annual inflation hitting a three-year high. “I love the inflation.”

Trump's remarks came shortly after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that annual inflation hit 4.2% in May, propelled mainly by energy costs that have risen sharply since the US first struck Iran earlier this year.
