'Stop early campaigns, you're overshadowing government's good work!' - NDC Council of Elders member
A member of the NDC Council of Elders, Dr. Christine Amoako-Nuamah, has cautioned party members against engaging in premature presidential campaign activities, warning that such actions could distract from the Mahama administration's Resetting Agenda.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, she stressed that the government has a four-year mandate and should remain focused on delivering results for Ghanaians rather than entertaining succession discussions less than two years into its term.
According to Dr. Amoako-Nuamah, the Council of Elders became concerned after observing activities that appeared to signal early positioning for the party's future presidential race. She emphasized that the warning was not directed at any particular individual but aimed at preserving party discipline and ensuring governance remains the priority.
She also pointed to the NDC's internal guidelines, which set timelines for campaign activities, arguing that any premature moves risk overshadowing government projects and creating unnecessary distractions.
Her comments come amid increasing debate over reports of early maneuvering by individuals believed to be eyeing the NDC flagbearer position ahead of future elections.
