Joint development, shared human rights

In 1986, the United Nations adopted a landmark document, setting out the key principles for protecting human rights globally. The Declaration on the Right to Development establishes the right of every person on the planet to participate in, contribute to, and benefit from economic, social, cultural and political development. Reflecting this, over the past four decades China has made steady progress in education, health care, housing, environmental protection and other fields, delivering a remarkable record of human rights protection.

By upholding a people-centered philosophy, China also engages actively in international cooperation to advance gender equality and the rights of persons with disabilities, in the belief that improving global human rights governance will support the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
