The Ghana Institution of Engineering has attributed the recent spate of building collapses across the country to construction activities carried out without the necessary regulatory approvals.
According to the institution, preliminary investigations into recent incidents in Adenta, Newtown, and Avenor revealed a consistent pattern of developers ignoring directives from relevant authorities.
The engineers noted that such practices are contributing significantly to structural failures and pose serious risks to public safety.
They are calling for stricter enforcement of building regulations and improved oversight by regulatory bodies to prevent future occurrences.
