The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa is urging greater use of research and data-driven analysis in journalism to improve accuracy, credibility, and informed public reporting.
The call was made during the presentation of a comprehensive research report covering key sectors such as mining, agriculture, energy, safety, water, and sanitation. The report is intended to serve as a reliable reference source for journalists, researchers, and policymakers seeking credible, evidence-based information.
Speaking during the presentation to management of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Michael Bremfi, Head of Business Development and Assistant Registrar at UMaT, emphasized the importance of strengthening the link between academic research and media practice.
Receiving the document on behalf of management, Nana Tuffour Boateng, Head of News at Citi FM and Channel One TV, described the initiative as timely and significant. He assured that the report would be carefully reviewed and its findings integrated into news coverage and programming where relevant. He also expressed appreciation to UMaT for the initiative.
