The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) is intensifying efforts to expand pension coverage within Ghana's informal sector, where a large proportion of workers currently remain outside formal retirement savings systems.
According to the Authority, increasing participation among informal sector workers is critical to improving retirement security, reducing old-age vulnerability, and enhancing long-term living standards across the country.
The initiative forms part of broader social protection reforms aimed at ensuring that more workers, regardless of employment type, are included in structured pension schemes that support financial stability in retirement.
NPRA says sustained awareness, education, and collaboration with stakeholders will be key to achieving wider enrolment and closing the existing pension coverage gap.
