Muntaka Reveals What Caused Ablekuma North By-Election Violence

Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has attributed the violence that marred the Ablekuma North by-election to a lack of coordination among the country's security agencies.
Addressing Parliament, the Minister disclosed that the Ghana Police Service has since reviewed its operational approach to election security. According to him, the revised strategy contributed significantly to the relatively peaceful conduct of the subsequent by-election in Akwatia.
Mr. Muntaka indicated that the new security measures will serve as the blueprint for policing future elections across Ghana, with the aim of preventing violence and strengthening public confidence in the electoral process.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions about election-related security, accountability, and the role of law enforcement in safeguarding Ghana's democratic institutions.
