The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, is calling for greater use of research and data-driven analysis in journalism to promote accurate and credible reporting.

The call was made during the presentation of a comprehensive research report covering key sectors including mining, agriculture, energy, safety, water, and sanitation.

The report, which spans the period from 2020 to 2024, highlights practical solutions to some of Ghana's pressing challenges, including illegal mining and poor waste management.

Speaking during the presentation to the management of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Michael Bremfi said the document is intended to serve as a reliable reference for journalists and policymakers seeking evidence-based information.

Receiving the report on behalf of management, Nana Tuffour Boateng described the initiative as timely and significant, assuring the university that the findings would be reviewed and applied where relevant in news coverage and programming.
