One killed as hundreds protest in Kenya against US Ebola quarantine centre

Kenyan police have fired tear gas and used water cannon against protesters in Nanyuki for a second consecutive week, with rights groups reporting at least one person killed. Demonstrators are opposing the government's decision to allow the United States to build an Ebola quarantine facility — exclusively for Americans — at a nearby military air base. President William Ruto has defended the agreement, citing decades of US funding for Kenya's healthcare, but protesters remain unconvinced. A court order last week to suspend the deal has not halted construction.

Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb reports from Nanyuki, Kenya.
