The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, says the recent flooding in the constituency is largely the result of human behaviour rather than engineering failures.

Following a tour of flood-affected communities, she expressed concern over the damage caused to homes and property, while noting that no lives were lost.

According to her, improper waste disposal into drains and the construction of buildings on waterways continue to worsen flooding in the area.

She stressed the need for collective responsibility, stating that “we don't have a prayer deficit, we have an attitude deficit,” and urged residents to adopt better environmental practices.

The MP added that engineers, NADMO officials, and municipal authorities will begin assessments and take action, including the removal of structures obstructing waterways, while relief support is provided to affected residents.
