Israel and Iran trade strikes, raising threat of full-scale war

A wave of attacks over 24 hours between Israel and Iran has threatened to reignite the regional war, shattering the fragile April ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

Over the weekend, Israel continued to unleash strikes on Beirut in response to what is says were Hezbollah attacks.

Iran has called for all Israeli strikes on Lebanon to be stopped.

In retaliation, Iran then launched a barrage of missiles late Sunday, June 7, on northern Israel. No casualties were reported.

Early Monday, Israel launched strikes that hit a petrochemical factory in Mahshahr, Iran. The military also targeted truck-based missile launchers.

Tel Aviv and Tehran have announced they would stop the bombardment, following an appeal from U.S. President Donald Trump.
