Akonta Mining Case Adjourned to June 16 as Cross-Examination Continues

The case of the **Republic v. Akonta Mining Limited and its owner, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has been adjourned to Tuesday, June 16, for the continuation of cross-examination of the prosecution's witness.

In court, counsel for the defendants challenged the prosecution witness's claim that the presence of Akonta Mining insignia on certain vehicles and equipment automatically meant the assets belonged to the company.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman is standing trial over allegations that his company was involved in illegal mining activities, including operations within the Tano Nimiri Forest Reserve without required approvals from relevant state agencies, including the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

The case continues as the court examines evidence and witness testimonies.
