GH¢200 Reward: Accra Residents to Be Paid for Reporting Illegal Dumping

The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has introduced a GH¢200 reward scheme for residents who provide photographic evidence of individuals dumping refuse into gutters or littering public spaces.

Speaking to Citi News, he explained that the initiative is designed to boost public participation in enforcing sanitation laws and promoting a cleaner capital city.

He encouraged especially young people to report offenders to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, noting that multiple verified reports could earn additional rewards.

The Mayor warned that indiscriminate waste disposal continues to contribute significantly to flooding challenges in the city.
