Iranians cheer as missiles fly into Israel

After Israel conducted an airstrike on Beirut, Iran responded swiftly and forcefully by launching missiles at it in the first such bombardment since a fragile ceasefire took effect in early April, according to Iran's state broadcaster which confirmed the launches and showed footage of Iranian's celebrations in the streets.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters he was calling Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to urge him not to retaliate, warning that further strikes would jeopardize ongoing nuclear negotiations with Tehran. Israeli press report that the phone call took place.

The Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital killed two people and injured 20, local health officials said.
