On the Avenor building collapse, Dr. Nana Yaw Akwadaa, Executive Director of the Bureau of Public Safety, has warned that Ghana continues to repeat past mistakes in dealing with major disasters.
He says the country has failed to learn from previous incidents, adding that investigations into such events should be made public to improve accountability and prevention.
According to him, the lack of transparency is contributing to a loss of public trust in the emergency response system, which poses a serious threat to public safety.
He further called for the establishment of clear national thresholds and standards to guide emergency response operations in the country.
