Critical California governor’s race begins to take shape

NBC News projects that Democratic candidate for governor Xavier Becerra will advance to the November runoff, but it remains to be seen whether his challenger will be Republican political commentator Steve Hilton or Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer. And in Los Angeles, the race to challenge incumbent Mayor Karen Bass also remains too close to call. Millions of ballots still need to be counted. NBC News' Liz Kreutz has the latest.
