NO CHOICE! Ghanaian Evacuee Speaks On Why Some Nationals Stayed in South Africa Despite Xenophobia

A Ghanaian evacuee from South Africa has shared insight into why many nationals continued to remain in the country despite facing difficult working conditions and the constant threat of xenophobic attacks.

Speaking after their arrival at the Accra International Airport, the returnee said economic survival left many with no option but to stay and continue working despite the risks.

The evacuees have been repatriated following rising xenophobic tensions and anti-migrant protests in South Africa that affected several African nationals, including Ghanaians.

Government officials and emergency teams are providing support, including medical care, relief items, and reintegration assistance for returnees.
