Stringer Dispatch: Mother awaits son's remains after Philippines building collapse
As of the evening of June 3, the death toll from the collapse of an under-construction building in Angeles City, northern Philippines, on May 24, has risen to 27, with several people still missing.
A CGTN stringer in the Philippines interviewed witnesses, a mother of a victim and local community leaders. One victim's mother, Genita Amaro Celeste, was overwhelmed with grief. She was too devastated to identify her son's remains and hoped to retrieve them intact. "We've been here for so long – two weeks now," she said. "I hope he is retrieved whole."
