Amendments by NDC MPs have rendered passed anti-LGBTQ Bill hollow and ineffective - Samuel Jinapor
Damongo MP and former Lands Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has weighed in on the debate surrounding Ghana's Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the anti-LGBTQ bill.
In this address, Abu Jinapor argues that the version of the bill passed by Parliament in May 2026 differs significantly from the one approved by the 8th Parliament in 2024. He claims that 31 amendments introduced by the NDC majority have weakened the effectiveness of the legislation, particularly provisions dealing with the promotion and support of LGBTQ activities.
He further calls on President John Dramani Mahama and the government to assent to the original 2024 bill or reintroduce it in its original form.
