The Local Government Minister, Ahmed Ibrahim, is calling for a national dialogue on plans by government to potentially ban plastic use in Ghana.

Plastic remains a major contributor to the country's waste burden, with growing calls from environmental advocates for stricter regulation or a full ban.

Speaking at this year's World Environment Day celebration in Takoradi, the Minister stressed the need for broad consultations before any final policy decision is taken.

He noted that stakeholder engagement will be key in balancing environmental concerns with economic and industrial realities as Ghana explores sustainable waste management solutions.
