The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is warning that the indiscriminate disposal of waste into major drains could undermine efforts by city authorities to mitigate flooding in the Ashanti Region.

NADMO officials say the continuous accumulation of plastic waste in drainage systems remains a major contributing factor to recurring floods across parts of the region.

They are urging residents to adopt responsible waste disposal practices and support ongoing efforts to clear and maintain drainage channels ahead of the rainy season.

Authorities say improved sanitation and public cooperation are key to reducing the impact of flooding in urban communities.
