Finance Ministry Responds to Concerns Over Food and Agriculture Funding

The Ministry of Finance says it has released more than GH¢1.6 billion to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), representing about 85 percent of the ministry's 2026 allocation for Goods and Services and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX).
According to the Finance Ministry, the releases reflect strong budget execution performance, with Goods and Services funding reaching 94.73 percent and CAPEX disbursements standing at 74.66 percent.
The Ministry insists that all transactions are properly documented and traceable through the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), which generates journal and warrant numbers for all public expenditure processes.
It further explained that all Goods and Services requests were initiated by MOFA itself, except for a release made to the National Food Buffer Stock Company, which manages strategic food stock distribution and logistics.
Officials say the data demonstrates transparency and accountability in public financial management.
