Veep Orders Investigation Into Accra Police Barracks Fire Disaster

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has directed an immediate investigation into the June 3 fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks Annex, which displaced several police families and destroyed property.

According to her, the investigation should focus on the condition of the facility, how long it has been in use, and whether the number of occupants exceeded the building's capacity.

The Vice President issued the directive during a visit to the affected area to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire and to interact with displaced families.

Authorities say the probe is expected to help identify lapses and prevent similar incidents in the future as recovery efforts continue.
