Why scholars say #Chinamaxxing is gaining momentum
How does it feel to step into traditional Chinese attire and try your hand at centuries-old cultural traditions? Around 150 sinologists from across the world have gathered in Dunhuang in northwest China's Gansu Province to find out.
This historic crossroads of the ancient Silk Road hosted the Third World Conference of Sinologists from June 2 to 4.
At a cultural salon featuring Hanfu, calligraphy, paper-cutting and Dunhuang-inspired painting, scholars shared their thoughts on why #Chinamaxxing is gaining traction online. Many said growing curiosity about China is driving more young people around the world to explore the country and its culture for themselves.
