Traders and artisans at Ofankor Barrier Spot M in Accra are assessing their losses after floodwaters inundated their shops following Wednesday's heavy rains.

The affected traders say the flooding was caused by choked and inadequate drainage systems, which they claim are unable to handle the volume of water flowing from Ofankor Barrier and surrounding communities.

Although the floodwaters have since receded, traders say recurring flooding continues to damage goods, disrupt business activities, and threaten livelihoods whenever heavy rains occur.

Residents are calling for urgent drainage improvements to prevent further destruction during the rainy season.
