GMA and Doctors Defend KATH CEO Over Emergency Admission Suspension

The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and the Komfo Anokye Doctors' Association (KADA) have criticised the query issued to the Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

This follows management's decision to temporarily suspend emergency admissions for 24 hours due to severe congestion at the hospital's Accident and Emergency Centre.

The medical associations argue that the decision was a responsible clinical response aimed at managing patient safety and preventing overcrowding, rather than a refusal to treat patients.

They say hospital management acted in coordination with other health facilities to ensure that emergency cases were appropriately redirected during the period of congestion.
