Tema Residents Suspend Demo After GPHA Intervention on Truck Congestion

Residents of the Dzatabu Electoral Area in Tema Community Three have suspended a planned three-day demonstration against the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) following assurances from the Authority to address persistent traffic congestion in the area.

The protest had been scheduled in response to the increasing presence of heavy-duty container trucks parked along road shoulders within the Community Three enclave, which residents say has disrupted movement and safety.

During a tour of affected areas, Director of the Tema Port, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Tebon Zumah, disclosed that security personnel including the Port Security Unit and military officers have been deployed to regulate truck movement and improve traffic flow.

Authorities say the intervention is aimed at restoring order and easing congestion in the busy port enclave while longer-term solutions are being developed.
