"We are catching up", the words of the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) after his visit to the epicentre of the Ebola outbreak in DRC. Although Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus struck a positive tone, the epidemic is being treated as a global health emergency. This is the Bundibugyo strain of the virus. It has a high fatality rate and there is no vaccine or proven treatment. The situation is worsened by the ongoing conflict in the eastern DRC, where the military is fighting armed groups. So, how can medical teams overcome the challenges facing the response to this Ebola outbreak?
