Sports analysts have offered mixed reactions to the Black Stars' recent performances as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Jerome Otchere has called for fairness in assessing Baba Rahman's performances, suggesting that the player's management and career circumstances have affected his consistency, while urging that he should not be overly criticised for recent displays.
Broadcast journalist Rahman Osman of The Sun (UK), however, expressed concern over Ghana's tactical approach, arguing that the team is overly defensive and lacks enough attacking threat. He noted that Ghana's historical challenge of goal scoring continues when too many players are committed to defensive roles.
He also added that successful teams balance defence with attacking intent, consistently posing problems for opponents rather than focusing solely on containment.
Sports analyst Sammy Bartels weighed in on tactical decisions, stating that the coach is prioritising results over entertaining football. He added that the defensive structure shown against Wales should be credited for its organisation, especially in the first half.
Bartels further noted that the coaching team will eventually have to make key decisions between experience and youth as Ghana finalises its World Cup squad composition.
