Did support for Israel cost Germany a UN Security Council seat? | DW News

Germany's bid for a UN Security Council seat has failed - and its foreign minister points to Berlin's strong support for Israel as a possible reason. Germany says it has a special historical responsibility toward Israel, but that stance may have alienated some UN member states. The result might highlight the growing splits within the international community - and reflect the possible cost of taking clear positions on Israel.
