President John Dramani Mahama has called for urgent reforms of the global financial system, arguing that persistent inequalities continue to disadvantage African economies.

Speaking at the 12th Africa Debate on Wednesday, he noted that disparities in borrowing costs, global trade structures, and access to technology remain major barriers to Africa's economic advancement.

He explained that Ghana and the West African sub-region are pursuing development strategies anchored on private sector growth and a clearer long-term economic vision.

The President emphasized the need for a fairer global financial architecture that supports sustainable development and reduces structural imbalances affecting emerging economies.
