Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, has announced that the illegal mining trial involving the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and two others has officially come to an end.

In a social media update on Wednesday, June 3, he explained that the accused persons in the case, Republic v. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako & 2 Others, called their fifth and final witness, who was subsequently discharged from the witness box.

According to him, this development marks the conclusion of the trial, with the court now expected to deliver judgment on July 3, 2026.

The case, which has attracted significant public attention, relates to allegations of illegal mining activities within a forest reserve.
