For the second consecutive time, inflation in Ghana has recorded a slight increase, rising to 3.7% in May 2026, up from 3.4% in April 2026.

This marks a reversal of the disinflation trend the country had experienced over the past 15 months. Month-on-month inflation also edged up to 1.1%, compared to 1.0% in April, indicating a mild pickup in price pressures.

Government Statistician, Alhassan Iddrisu, presented the latest inflation data at a news conference, highlighting the key drivers behind the movement in prices.

Economists say the latest figures suggest early signs of renewed inflationary pressure, even after a prolonged period of relative stability in the cost of living.
