Foreign-Owned Shops Targeted as Anti-Migrant Tensions Rise in South Africa

Foreign-owned businesses in South Africa are facing growing intimidation and violence as anti-migration groups demand tougher action against undocumented migrants.

In Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal province, several foreign-owned shops were looted and vandalised after protests over immigration and employment.

Business owners say they are being unfairly targeted, while South African employees fear losing their jobs as tensions rise.

Protest groups are calling for the deportation of undocumented migrants and have issued a deadline for foreigners without valid visas to leave the country.

Al Jazeera's Haru Mutasa reports from Estcourt, South Africa.
