The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is calling for the removal of taxes on sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene products.

The association says the move will help reduce absenteeism and improve academic performance among schoolgirls, especially in rural communities where access and affordability remain major challenges.

According to the group, many girls miss school during their menstrual periods due to the high cost of sanitary products, a situation they believe is affecting learning outcomes and overall performance.
