The Administrative body for the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) has raised serious concerns about critical gaps in Ghana's healthcare system, particularly in cancer treatment capacity.
According to the Fund, Ghana currently has only two radiotherapy machines nationwide, leading to significant delays in treatment for cancer patients.
Officials say patients often wait up to four months before receiving radiotherapy, a situation they describe as deeply worrying and potentially life-threatening.
Speaking during a visit to the Secretariat by the Vice President, the Fund's Administrator, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, highlighted the urgent need for investment in medical infrastructure to improve access to life-saving care.
