The Volta River Authority (VRA) is partnering with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to address flood risks and environmental challenges in vulnerable communities.

The collaboration focuses on strengthening emergency response systems and improving preparedness in flood-prone areas.

Director for Water Resources and Renewable Energy at the VRA, Abdul Noor Wahab, says the Emergency Preparedness Plan serves as an early warning tool that clearly defines stakeholder roles in managing emergencies, including controlled water spillages.

He emphasized the importance of sustained public engagement to improve awareness and strengthen community response during emergencies.

The remarks were made on the sidelines of a one-day workshop on emergency preparedness and environmental management held in Accra.
