Responding to concerns raised by woodworkers at Sokoban Wood Village, the Director of the National Timber Monitoring Team, Mohammed Kwaku Doku, has assured stakeholders that their concerns will be formally addressed.
He stated that a detailed report will be submitted to the sector Minister for appropriate action regarding delays in documentation for transporting wood offcuts.
The assurance follows calls by the Ghana Sawn Timber Sellers Association for government to simplify permit processes, which they say are slowing down business and affecting livelihoods.
The situation has prompted renewed discussions on improving efficiency within the timber regulatory framework under the Forestry Commission.
