UK journalists call for government to act on ‘intimidating’ lawsuits

More than a dozen senior UK journalists and media freedom advocates are demanding an end to the abuse of defamation law. In an open letter, they urge the government to ensure the protection of journalists from such lawsuits. Journalists are singling out a procedure called SLAPP, or Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation.
