India election: FRANCE 24 report in Kerala, the only state where the BJP has never won a seat

The southern Indian state of Kerala has for years resisted the temptation to vote for the Hindu nationalist party of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the last elections in 2019, the BJP did not win a single seat in this state. However, Narendra Modi is stepping up his political rallies and election promises. He has even tried to forge closer ties with the Catholic Church, which is very influential in the region. But the policies pursued by New Delhi are not appealing to this southern state. Its main opposition party, the Congress, is surviving thanks to alliances with regionalist parties as FRANCE 24's team on the ground reports.
