Brazil and France reset relations after ‘nadir’ under Bolsonaro
French President Emmanuel Macron and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva are meeting in Brazil, part of a “resetting” of relations between the two countries after a “nadir” under Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro, says Anthony Pereira, director of the Kimberly Green Latin American & Caribbean Center at Florida International University. Bolsonaro clashed with Macron over the deforestation of the Amazon, but now the two countries see each other as potentially valuable allies, Pereira told France 24.
