UK healthcare strike: Nurses and ambulance crews demand pay rises

England has faced its largest-ever strike by health workers on Monday after tens of thousands of nurses and ambulance workers walked out in an escalating pay dispute. The government says it cannot afford salary rises, but strikes in Wales and Scotland were called off after improved pay offers there.
