Families of Korea stampede victims angered by pace of investigation I DW News

Families who lost loved ones in a deadly crowd crush in South Korea over three months back, remain dismayed at the pace of investigations.

159 mostly young people died in Seoul's Itaewon district last year on October 29th, after hundreds packed into a narrow alley during Halloween celebrations.

A police investigation has since sought criminal charges against mainly law enforcement officials for failing to plan and respond to anticipated crowd numbers. A former police chief and former mayor are among six officials arrested. But families who lost loved ones on that day told DW that accountability should stretch to the very top.
