UK government sacking: Nadhim Zahawi fired over tax affairs

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has fired the chair of his ruling Conservative Party, Nadhim Zahawi, following weeks of revelations about his tax affairs. Sunak ordered an inquiry into the matter last week after facing political pressure. The prime minister says it is clear that Zahawi — a former finance minister — breached the Ministerial Code for failing to declare a penalty he paid to the UK tax office while he served in cabinet.
