'Historic deal at the EU against deforestation sends a strong signal to the rest of the world'

The European Union has become the first trading bloc to agree on what is being termed a "historic" law to prevent companies from selling several commodities linked to deforestation and forest degradation. The law will force firms supplying palm oil, cattle, soy, coffee, cocoa, timber and rubber - as well as some derived products such as beef or furniture - to the EU market to prove their supply chains are not fuelling the destruction of forests. For more on the new EU law, FRANCE 24 is joined by Pierre Cannet, Executive Director of Advocacy and Campaigns at WWF France.
