Sudan fears effects of Ethiopia dam on environment, livelihoods

Several rounds of talks between Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia on the Ethiopian Grand Rennaissance Dam have failed and farmers and others in Sudan who rely on the Nile for their livelihoods say they are already seeing the dam's effects on the surrounding environment. Sudan also worries about the knock-on effects on its own dams and analysts say a trilateral agreement is critical. Many Ethiopians are eager to reap the benefits of the dam when it is completed next year, but communities downstream worry their livelihoods will dry up altogether. Al Jazeera's Priyanka Gupta reports.
