Mali is withdrawing from the G5 Sahel joint force fighting armed groups linked to ISIL and Al Qaeda.

The military government blamed a lack of progress and internal divisions.

It also accused a country outside of the region of trying to isolate Mali.

With France, Germany and the EU reducing their involvement, who'll be left to look after security in West Africa?
